Due to their low-noise, low-cost and durable-endurance, underwater gliders play an important role in ocean monitoring, exploring and detection working as efficient mobile sensor platform. At present, the numerical simulation is one of the important methods to study the underwater glider. With the development of science and technology, especially the improvement of computer performance, numerical simulation of underwater glider’ motion will be one of the important research direction.Based on the SST k-ω turbulence model and overlap grid method, the main contents of this paper analyzed the study of motion characteristics in the vertical plane. By comparing the velocity, displacement, motion, force and moment of numerical simulation and theory, the results of numerical simulation are proved reliable for requirement. Then through adjusting the buoyance and the position of gravity center, the different states of underwater glider’ motion were calculated to analyze and compare the velocity, displacement, force and moment of underwater glider under the different ocean currents.
