Functionally Graded Material is a new and developing type of intelligent material in recent years. Because of its special functional behaviors, this kind of material has been widely used in engineering domain. Shape memory alloy is another type of intelligent material which is famous for shape memory ability and pseudoelasticity, and for this reason it has become a hot topic in material domain. In the research work. A new material——functionally graded shape memory alloy is constituted by composing functionally graded material and shape memory alloy together and it was expected to have special functional behaviors of both functionally graded material and shape memory alloy.In order to provide an exact reference information system and mature theoretical system, theoretical solutions for the purpose of explaining the behaviors of a three-layer functionally graded shape memory alloy composite structural laminate system subjected to thermo-mechanical coupling are developed. And after analyzing through averaging technique of composites, solutions of the stress distributions in a generic functionally graded shape memory alloy system concerning thermo-mechanical coupling conditions are presented respectively. Numerical results which are obtained through computational analysis under different mechanical and temperature loadings are listed. For showing the superiority of behaviors of functionally graded shape memory alloy, comparisons of stress distribution between functionally graded elastic material and functionally graded shape memory alloy are developed. It turns out that results are influenced by composition method;shape memory alloy is sensitive to temperature variations, and it plays an important role in reducing structural stress; while it has tiny effect under mechanical loading.For the purpose of making a description of latent capacity and superiority of application in engineering domain of shape memory alloy composite, the research work has also discussed the possibility of controlling the winglet's macro-deformation by manually changing the temperature of shape memory alloy applied in winglet structure.
