Quantitative Research Of Humble Administrator’s Garden’s Space Contrast In Openness And Closeness Based On Isovist Analysis

Chinese Garden born in China with a high cultural value, has long history and excellent gardening practices. Recently, Globalization has brought China rapidly development in Economic and technology, at the same time, China’s landscape seems to move closer to the western modern landscape. However, in recent years, Emerging numbers of "New Chinese gardens" has been welcomed by Chinese people, so that Chinese Garden is an art form with local culture. How to combine Chinese Garden and people’s demand is the current designers need to think about."Inheritance" is the premise of "inheritance and innovation". The researches on Chinese Garden is not easy to master with the method of qualitative description, so that Chinese Garden is difficult to inheritance. The study of Chinese Garden from quantitative method contribute to understand Chinese Garden for designers, and connect with modern science and technology of garden.The research object is Humble Administrator’s Garden which is the representative of Jiangnan Private Garden. The paper studies on the Humble Administrator’s Garden’s space change rule of openness and closeness by the theory of space syntax in Isovist analysis,and summarizes Humble Administrator’s Garden space law scientifically and efficiently,and provides a new research method and regular data for the inheritance and innovation of Chinese Garden. The paper on the base of the matching quantitative data from space syntax and the results of data from questionnaire investigation, studies on the relationship of changes law and scale in space’s openness and closeness, to get a quantitative index and characteristics of Humble Administrator’s Garden, to provide a new research method for the study of Chinese Garden and a reliable basis for the modern landscape planning and design.
