With the accelerating pace of human exploration of the universe, lots of countries cooperate with each other more and more in the field of aerospace. In order to satisfy the requirements of different countries, the Consulting Committee of Space Data System(CCSDS) was founded by several countries. This organization figures out a series of space communication standard and tons of technology recommendations. In all of these standards and recommendations, the Proximity-1 protocol is suitable for short distance communication in the deep space, now this protocol is used in the Mars exploration successfully. Recently China is going to explore the Mars and buil d the space station, so it’s the time to do some researches on this protocol.This paper describes some concepts and characteristics of the proximity space link firstly, then summarizes overseas research based on this protocol, and argues that it’s necessary to develop an ARQ system in proximity space. According to the layers of Proximity-1, this paper designs an ARQ system which based on the protocol, including overall scheme design, function design, system structure and ARQ scheme design. In the overall plan, the paper designs the system structure and platform which was based on the function indexes; In the ARQ scheme design, it mainly analyses several ARQ solutions, and chooses the Go-Back-n ARQ plan for the system. It also analyses the ARQ time delay, CRC capability and ARQ frame which is combined with the characteristics of the system. In the software design, the paper designs the data manager module, parameters configuration module, function analysis module and protocol simulation module.In the Proximity-1 protocol, the data communication is divided into three working mode, including full duplex, half duplex and simplex operations. This platform can simulate different deep space environment and calculate bit error rate. Based on the above analysis, we use the Visual Studio and Lab Windows/CVI to establish system and test. After testing, this system can achieve the ARQ function in three working mode, and meet the requirement of quality of service. This simulation system can provide references for deep space exploration an d Chinese mars exploration.
