As the foundation and guarantee of the fast development of national economy, it’s of vital significance in the operation safety of transmission lines. Due to the frequent exposure to the natural environment, the transmission lines are always under the influence of the factors of wind, snow, rain and so on. According to the related documents prove that there is practical engineering meaning in the theory and experiment study regarding the transmission lines’ icing and ice-shedding. The paper focuses on the study of the ice-shedding jump and vibration-reduced control of the transmission lines. The detailed work is completed as follow:(1) Regarding the transmission lines’ ice-shedding loads as the sudden dynamic loads and in consideration of the attenuation effect of damp as well, the theoretical formula for the transmission lines’ jump height is conducted based on the function principle and conservation of energy. The formula reveals the dynamics essence of ice-shedding jump, which established a quantitative relation between jump height and sag difference. The two corresponds well when comparing the results between the theoretical formula and finite element.(2)On the basis of the vibration reduction principle of dynamic absorption and collision energy consumption, a bump damper is designed to enhance the damping effect of transmission lines in extreme motivation circumstance. And the structure parameters of new type damper are optimized based on the dynamic property of tower-line system.(3) According to dynamic similitude theory, transmission tower-line system model test is designed and made, conducting the ice-shedding jump experiment in different conditions. By comparing the peak displacement and damping ratio of the important points between the uninstall of bumping damper and the install of bumping damper, the effectiveness of bumping damper applied to the ice-shedding vibration reduction of transmission lines is verified.
