Inductive Contactless Power Transfer(ICPT) technology is a new way to transfer power, which contains electromagnetic induction technology, high-frequency resonant technology, high-frequency transformation technology and other advanced technology. It can transfer power transmission reliably and safely, efficiently and conveniently without conductor connection. Thus, it is not only widely used in daily life such as medical occasion and electronic equipment, but also fits for harsh situation such as inflammable and explosive environment, and underwater.In mobile ICPT applications, it is essential to adopt resonant circuits to compensate the large reactive power of ICPT system, which is discussed in this paper. This paper introduces the present research status and the development trend of ICPT technology and resonant compensation. The operating principle and elements of ICPT technology and the models of the loosely coupled transformer and LCL resonant are analyzed.Based on the single LC resonant, the resonant functions are analyzed respectively from the angle of the primary apparent power system and the angle of transmission capability. Then, the LCL compound resonant compensation is investigated. In addition, the normalization formulae of the system voltage gain and the primary impedance angle, and the condition when the frequency bifurcation occurs are deduced. At the same time, the basic design methods of the compensation circuit parameters and the operating frequency are analyzed and proposed.Through analyzing the normalization formulae, the difference of the system transmission characteristics between the frequency bifurcation phenomenon and none are obtained and the factors which causes frequency bifurcation phenomenon are researched. The preliminary exploration on the system transmission characteristics of the ICPT system with LCL resonance compensation are carried out. Also, the simulation is conducted to verify the theoretical analysis of the system characteristics. Finally, the hardware design of experiment platform is introduced and the experiments are fulfilled, whose results correspond with the theoretical analysis.
