In recent years, with the increasing developing of water conservancy construction in the west of China, a large number of national key water conservancy project are in the planning and construction. For example, the ya-lung water conservancy project, xiang river water conservancy project, qia-yang water conservancy project, la-luo water conservancy project, etal, have been put into construction or finished. The environment in the west of China is complicated, characterized by long sunshine time, high irradiation intensity, large temperature difference and windiness, asking for better durability of hydraulic construction materials. Epoxy anti-abrasion material is important anti abrasion material, characterized by high strength, good bonding performance with concrete and high anti-abrasion strength, widely used in hydraulic structure anti-abrasion repair and protection. However, epoxy anti abrasion material is tend to pulverization failure by intense ultraviolet radiation, which is more serious in the west of China. Thus, improving the aging property of epoxy anti-abrasion material is of great significance to its application in hydraulic engineering in the west of China.UVA UV-326, UVA UV-9 and HALS UV-970 were used to modify the epoxy anti-abrasion material. UV accelerated aging test was carried out to select the best modification scheme which has the best anti-aging property. The selected anti-aging modification method is: adding 0.3% of UVA UV-9 and 0.2% of HALS UV-970 to the epoxy anti-abrasion material. After 60 days UV accelerated aging, tensile strength of the modified epoxy anti-abrasion material is 6.13 MPa higher than that of the original epoxy anti-abrasion material. Abrasion test results show that the modified epoxy anti-abrasion material and the original epoxy anti-abrasion material have similar anti-abrasion performance, and the anti-abrasion strength of the modified epoxy anti-abrasion material is greater than 7.15 h/(kg/m~2)(high-speed underwater steel ball method). The modified epoxy anti-abrasion material proved to be a good anti-abrasion material by the abrasion test and engineering application.In order to further study the effect of light stabilizer on the ageing properties of epoxy anti-abrasion material, the variation of several properties the modified epoxy anti-abrasion material and the original epoxy anti-abrasion material in the process of photo-oxidative aging and thermo-oxidative aging have been studied comparatively, which include color, surface morphology, tensile strength, glass transition temperature and chemical composition. It was found that the light stabilizers could effectively reduce the tensile strength decrease and glass transition temperature rise, reduce the degree of its color and surface morphology degradation, which means the light stabilizers can effectively reduce aging speed of epoxy anti-abrasion material, and prolong its service lifetime.
