How to ensure the quality of product function and under the premise of reducing the rough machining allowance, reduce the production cost is all machinery manufacturing enterprises have been studying the problem, this problem through the whole process of the product. Machine production process can be divided into three stages: probably blank manufacturing, processing, parts assembly. Blank manufacturing as the first stage of the whole production process, can produce the blank on subsequent smaller rough machining allowance and high precision manufacturing process has a very important influence.To effectively reduce the influence of blank size error on rough machining allowance, to process size path based on the graph theory, selection method for plane blank size design are studied, it is concluded that the principle of the shortest path size. To ensure that the blank the surface rough machining allowance minimum error as the goal, the flat blank in crude benchmark portfolio positioning in machining characteristics are studied, the results show that if the plane size design all the blank benchmark crude benchmark combined positioning, the flat blank all the rough machining allowance minimum error, so as to get a new method for flat blank dimensions. Finally, based on the size based on the shortest path of castings and forgings and weldments plane design method of blank size, it is concluded that in view of the two types of flat blank design method for the different sizes of billet. And selection of castings and forgings and welding parts parts, respectively, for the old and new two blank dimensioning methods comprehensive analysis comparison, proved based on the shortest path to the size of the plane design method of blank size to reduce artifacts of rough machining allowance and improve the precision of the workpiece have a positive significance.This paper mainly do the following work:(1) through the process dimension path graph is studied, it is concluded that the principle of the shortest path size;(2) to expand the research scope of crude benchmark, it is concluded that under the condition of plane positioning characteristic of the crude benchmark;(3) based on the principle of the shortest path size, casting forging and welding parts, respectively studied graphic design method of blank size, calculation, and combined with examples to illustrate the effectiveness of the design method.
