For the power system, the reactive power shortage will cause the voltage shift, the power grid loss increase, the device damage and the system collapse if not to improve. The reactive power compensation device is connected to the power grid, which can compensate reactive power, improve voltage stability,optimize power quality and avoid waste.At present, mainstream compensation device is the TSC(thyristor switched capacitor) which can be completed large-scale reactive power compensation, but compensation capacity cannot be adjusted continuously and the response speed of the device quickly enough, unable to meet the development of smart grid technology in the new era. And STATCOM characteristics lies in the accurate,continuous implementation of reactive power compensation, high intelligent degree. But when large capacity STATCOM in power electronic, it is so expensive that users generally difficult to afford burden. Therefore, how to make the investment which reactive power compensation capacity very reasonable, it is the common concern of problems in this area.According to the traditional TSC which can only grade compensation,compensation accuracy, slow response speed and STATCOM which high cost of compensation capacity, this paper proposes a hybrid consisting of TSC and STATCOM reactive power compensation device. This system can accord to TSC which foot compensation capacity and less investment and STATCOM which continuous, accurate and reasonable compensation characteristics, through expert decision is the premise of the algorithm, the two are able to work effectively. This paper expounds the reactive power compensation facilities framework and basic concepts on expert opinion, it is the premise of reactive power compensation device to complete the comprehensive dynamic(Hybrid Var Compensator, HVC) design. Followed by the presentation of the operation mode and the algorithm of TSC and STATCOM two kinds of equipment, and analysis of the past system using STATCOM PID control strategy is not difficult to find that it is more complicated, more complex parameter tuning. However,this paper determined by internal model algorithm control which is based on the premise of Taylor series, not only has the advantages of convenient operation,intuitive framework, the control effect is better than traditional PID, and easy to be realized.Finally, hybrid dynamic reactive power compensator is established by Matlab simulation software. The simulation results show that the hybrid reactive power compensator with the expert decision and the internal model control strategy can achieve the high precision of the hybrid reactive power compensation.
