As one of the most commonly used medical instrument, stethoscope has extraordinary significances to the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease. However, restricted by the defects such as low sensitivity, vulnerable to environment, the lack functions of storage, playback, wirelessly transmission, the traditional acoustic stethoscope can’t make a further use in telemedicine, mobile medical, medical education and so on. With the development and progress of science and technology, electronic technology brings stethoscope revolutionary breakthroughs and the electronic stethoscope emerges. With few commercial products in home and abroad, as well as the defects such as incomplete and expensive, seriously impeding the widespread use of electronic stethoscope. In view of this, the paper introduces a design of a portable electronic heart sounds and lung sounds stethoscope.This paper first clearly states the stethoscope’s technical indicators, design requirements and function requirements and determines the technical solution which includes the pickup sensor, main control module, audio codec module, audio storage module, display module and the Bluetooth module. Then we developed two portable electronic stethoscope product prototype based on two different pickup sensors. The first prototype based on piezoelectric sensor has passed medical equipment product registration, and receives reports of electrical safety(GB9706) and electromagnetic compatibility(YY0505). And now the first prototype is applying its registration certificate. The second prototype based on auscultation head and condenser microphone, innovatively adopts floating adjustable diaphragm and can choose different auscultation mode according to different frequencies of heart sounds and lung sounds. The second prototype is upgraded and optimized compared to first prototype, realizing the miniaturization and increasing the product’s portability and practicality.Then using C# as programming language and SQL Server as backend database, we design a client application base on PC, making the management of patients’ personal and auscultatory sounds information come true. The application can wirelessly receive and storage the auscultatory sounds data, even draw waveform and play it. Moreover, through extracting feature parameters by analyzing the time domain and frequency domain of signals, the application can complete the basic auxiliary diagnosis.The portable electronic heart sounds and lung sounds stethoscope we developed has perfect function and low cost, being applicable to hospital auscultation, emergency, mediacl teaching and other occasions. Furthermore, it contributes to the multilateral applications in telemedicine, mobile medical, health management and so on.
