Aircraft ground icing is one of the main causes of flight accidents. Aircraft ground deicing is an important way to reduce flight accidents and improve the safety when the aircraft is taking off. One of the most common deicing methods is using the heated deicing fluid. For the present situation that domestic research in the field of ground deicing lags behind that of the developed countries, the research on the mechanism of aircraft ground deicing plays a significant role on the improvement of ground deicing theory, the development of related technologies and the deicing equipment.First, the aircraft icing process and the ice melting process are analyzed by the phase change heat transfer theory. The principles and the mechanisms of the deicing process are studied. Second, the model of the ice growth in the steady state is established. And the model of the ice melting's phase change heat transfer is set up without considering the effects of jet impingement. Third, the phase interface changes of the ice growth and ice melting are numerically analyzed. At last, the model of the ice growth is modified, and the accuracy of the ice melting model is validated by two different experiments. Then the simulated experiments of deicing are implemented in the low-temperature test chamber and in the outdoor environment that approximated the airport's environment. It provides preferences for controlling the deicing fluid's parameters, and provides theoretical basis and technical supports to develop new deicing technology. The results show improving the temperature and the flow rate of the deicing fluid can only improve the deicing efficiency within a certain range. For different icing conditions, the deicing fluid's temperature and the flow rate should be allocated rationally in consideration of the economic factors, and then the high efficiency can be achieved.
