Adaptive Cruise Control(ACC)system is an advanced Driver Assistant System(DAS)which is designed to release human drivers' workload, reduce the wrong driving skills and the fatigue driving cases, enhance driving comfort, safety, increase traffic capacity, decrease the fuel consumption and exhaust emission.Traditionally,ACC systems focus on tracking a designed spacing from a preceding vehicle or tracking a desired speed. In recent years,however,ecological-cruising has received great attention by considerable domestic and foreign scholars due to such concerns as fuel efficiency and reducing emissions of vehicles on roads. Therefore, fuel consumption and emissions of vehicles is difficult and hot issues of ecological cruise technology to be solved and also has important theoretical significance and application value.Based on the existing vehicle cruise control technology, using the idea of Utopia point and model predictive control(MPC)method presents a new multi-objective predictive cruise control strategy. So that each target of vehicle cruise control system can achieve optimal performance. The main achievements and innovations of this dissertation are as follows:(1)The conflict and contradiction between the mutil-performance of vehicle cruise system are analyzed quantitatively. We use mathematical formula to express the performance of each target through Mathematical modeling.(2)Conventional vehicle cruise control systems are mostly about the single target control, unable to meet multiple objectives to optimize performance. Here the multi-objective optimization and model predictive control method is used to design and analysis of ACC system. We proposed a new multi-objective model predictive cruise control strategie to solve vehicle cruise control system performance in multi-objective optimization problem. This new predictive cruise controller let the vehicle can be tracked the front of the vehicle and makes the vehicle have the best fuel economy. Here we introduce the concept of the Utopia Point method into the vehicle cruise control system. The main idea of the utopia point multi-objective optimization method is to minimize the distance of its cost function vector to a vector of independently minimized cost functions. The main advantage of this method is that no arbitrary weighting functions are used and no classification of the relative importance of each objective function is required. Therefore, the vehicle ACC system has the better asymptotic stability. The main idea of this new approach is to combine the utopia-point method and MPC method to design a utopia-tracking predictive cruising controller. Then, combine the constraints of the vehicle(such as the speed of vehicle, the acceleratoe pedal and the brake pedal opening degree, etc)to establish the vehicle cruise control system state space model. And the proposed approach is illustrated by comparing to the conventional weighted MPC algorithm and the IDM algorithm with several different traffic scenarios. And the results show the practicability and superiority of the proposed method.(3)Design and development of the vehicle adaptive cruise control system demonstration software. Then, the effects of various adaptive cruise control algorithms are compared and analyzed.Select the JAVA language as the graphical development software programming language.Because of its object-oriented programming feature,it can better show the graphic effect which we need and the content algorithm is visualization. The programming language has the cross-platform feature which make the software can run in the different computer environment without considering the computer hardware and operating systems.
