Sailing on the sea,container ships especially large ones will encounter wind and water resistances.Owing to the relative big wind area with a large amount of packed containers on aboard,wind load account for big proportion among the total resistances.It is of great significance to accurately attain the wind load,and the impact of characteristics of wind field on the safe and efficient navigation on container ships.To date,the estimating algorithm of wind load is to get the regressive of the data collected from wind tunnel experiment based on full load and ballast load situations.However,for the non-full-loaded scenario,new estimating algorithms are need to be created to meet the actual requirement.In this paper,based on the Fluent platform using the CFD technology,numerical simulations are implemented of the characteristics of the wind field for two-fold accumulation patters-non interlaced and interlaced,which are the two common methods used on board referring to the practical scale of containers.Comparison is made between the experiment results and measured data by the numerical simulation which is focused on TTU building with single box shape faced with 90 degrees of wind field.The simulation results verified the accountability of the new method and the numerical formulas can be derived tailored for box-shape wind filed.Then the experiments results show good agreement with the wind tunnel experiment results when the simulation is implemented with different wind angles for various composed boxes which are composed of multifarious boxes.And the reliability is obvious.It is proved that Realizable k-ε turbulence model has better applicability to wind flow simulation of blocks by the simulation of TTU.Through the numerical simulation of the box shape with different number of columns and rows,it’s found that the back tail area of the of boxes stacked with two types of forms has relation to both the number of columns and rows,when the row number is lower than a specific value,otherwise it only has relation to the column.When the number of row is constant,here is a power exponent relationship between the drag coefficient and the number of rows in the two kinds of stacked forms.When the number of columns is constant,there is a linear relationship between the drag coefficient and the number of rows in the two kinds of stacked forms.
