With the continuous increase of car ownership,the use of fossil fuels has reached an unprecedented peak,therefore,in the past twenty years,many countries are faced with energy shortages and environmental pollution problems.In order to improve this situation,the research on automobile electrification has become the main stream of automobile industries of all over the world.Motor drive technology is one of the most critical technologies in the field of electric vehicles(EV),and drive technology of different motor is not same.Switched reluctance motor(SRM)has become the popular research directions in EV industry due to its advantages of simple structure,easy installation,and low cost without using permanent magnet materials.The main work of this paper is to realize the application of SRM drive(SRD)technology in EV by designing an excitation and speed adjustment system for a SRM,and this motor is mounted on a small EV test bench.The steps of this work are as follows:First of all,the development of SRM and its application in the automotive industry is reviewed and summarized by reading the related literature of this study.Then introduction on the characteristics and development trend of SRM driving system is given.Secondly,the basic principle and structure of SRM are introduced in detail,and its mathematical model and linear model are analyzed.Again,the advantages and disadvantages of several control methods of the SRM are introduced and compared,then both the excitation and speed adjustment method are selected.Next,drive system is designed to match the High Efficient SRM based on its characteristics.After that,a Simulink model which has the same structure with drive system is establishes,and simulation is implied.Then,the software and hardware design of the FPGA based 3.5kW SRM drive system are finished.Finally,the experiments with and without load are carried out,and the valuable experimental results which could help to make foundation for further research are obtained.
