The maximum power point tracking(MPPT)algorithm of power optimizer can used to solve the power loss of photovoltaic(PV)system,which caused by partial shading conditions(PSC)of PV array.The MPPT algorithm is the core control algorithm of the power optimizer.But the existing MPPT algorithms under PSC are invalid or low converge speed or requires knowledge of the structure of PV array,open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current of each PV panel,which are difficult to obtain.Otherwise,due to the power optimizer is not popular in the PV plant,there are few literatures study on the optimization of the PV system with power optimizer.Moreover,the power optimizer needs to face the problems of matching with different inverters and the stability operation under different environment conditions in particle application.In this paper,the MPPT algorithm of the power optimizer is optimized.Then a novel overall distribution-particle swarm optimization(OD-PSO)MPPT algorithm is proposed according to analyze the working principle and insufficient of particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm and global scanning MPPT algorithm.In OD-PSO MPPT algorithm,OD MPPT algorithm used to rapidly search the area near the maximum power point(MPP)of PV array without the information about the structure of PV array,open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current of each PV panel.Then PSO MPPT algorithm used to find the MPP accurately.In order to validate the rapidity and accuracy of the proposed algorithm,the simulation platform and experimental platform has been built.The simulation and experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed OD-PSO MPPT algorithm by comparing with the existing PSO MPPT algorithm.Finally,after the global MPPT algorithm traced to the MPP of the PV array,the local MPPT algorithm used to realize real-time tracking.Then a PV array composed by 6 X 1 PV panel is taken as an example to analyze the optimization effect of the power optimizer according to change the location of PSC and the irradiation intensity of the shaded PV cells.This paper points out that the optimization effect of the power optimizer is not only related to the light intensity of the shielded component,but also to the number of bypass diodes which may be turned on.The results validated its correctness in a 4kW PV plant.Finally,the key problems of the power optimizer in practical application studied in this paper.There exists the problems of reliable start and stability operation when power optimizer is matched different inverters.The design of power optimizer analyzed and designed to overcome the above problems.When the power optimizer is matched the upper computer,the problem of display deviation is analyzed and solved.
