In this paper,the right-handed circularly polarized magnetic window antenna based on artificial electromagnetic metamaterials is studied and compared with the conventional right-handed circularly polarized magnetic window antenna.At present,the magnetic window antenna is one of the effective means to overcome the communication interruption problem of the reentry vehicle.The magnetic window antenna based on artificial electromagnetic metamaterials is an antenna in which the EBG structure is added to the microstrip antenna,the ground plate of the microstrip antenna is replaced with the magnet,and the magnet is combined with the microstrip antenna.Firstly,this paper introduces the background of the research and the current mainstream solutions and problems,and puts forward the significance and value of this paper.Then,the influence of electromagnetic wave propagation and plasma is analyzed theoretically.The basic characteristic parameters of plasma are introduced.It is pointed out that the attenuation of electromagnetic wave is affected by various factors such as electromagnetic wave operating frequency and plasma recirculation frequency.While,the addition of magnetic field can make the lower frequency of electromagnetic waves pass through the plasma,Which theoretically confirmed feasibility of solving black barrier communication with magnetic window antenna instead of ordinary antenna.At the same time,the characteristics of electromagnetic bandgap(EBG)structure are studied in detail,and the working mechanism is analyzed.Based on what has been mentioned above,we designed a conventional right-handed microstrip antenna and a magnetic field antenna based on artificial electromagnetic metamaterial microstrip antenna and its corresponding magnetic window antenna.Then,we designed and manufatured the ordinary magnetic window antenna and the artificial electromagnetic metamaterial based on the magnetic window antenna,and measured S11 and other basic parameters in the microwave darkroom.Both the simulation and test results show that two kinds of magnetic window antenna can effectively improve the communication interruption.Moreover,the magnetic field antenna based on artificial electromagnetic metamaterials is superior to ordinary magnetic window antenna in S11,axail ratio bandwidth and mitigating attenuation effect,while external dimensions of antennas are relatively smaller.Finally,we conducted a ground simulation experiment by using the fluorescent array to simulate the plasma about magnetic window antenna using to alleviate the problem of communication interruption in the laboratory.The experimental result shows that in the case of same magnetic field strength and same plasma density,S-band magnetic window antenna based on artificial electromagnetic material has a better effect than the L-band ordinary magnetic window antenna.The experimental result is consistent with the simulation results.Even both in S-band,magnetic window antenna also has a better mitigation effect than ordinary magnetic window antenna.Therefore,we have experimentally confirmed that the S-band magnetic window antenna based on artificial electromagnetic metamaterials is more effective to alleviate the problem of communication interruption.
