Corrugated steel culvert is a new structure form introduced into the field of road and bridge engineering in our country last decade. It has been a substitute of traditional small span masonry culverts developing very rapidly because of its construction speed, wide applicable scope, low comprehensive cost, environmental protection, and many other advantages. But the research about mechanical properties of corrugated steel pipe-arch culvert is still in its infancy and little research consider the influence of corrosion. Therefore,it has important reference value to study different cross sections and consider the corrosion influence. The stress and deformation performance of a corrugated steel pipe-arch culverts with 4.2 m span at the saline soil area of JingXing Highway was studied by field monitoring test and finite element numerical simulation method in this paper. The displacement, strain and earth pressure of corresponding points on two different sections were monitored during continuous construction. The stress performance of the pipe-arch has been analyzed through measured data and combined with the construction process, the cause of corresponding deformation form was analyzed.A simplified 2D plane strain finite element model was establish by ANSYS,the results of which were compared with measured values. The change regulations of deformation and earth pressure with the increase of backfill height during the construction process has been analyzed, which shows that the finite element model using passive earth pressure to consider compaction effect conforms to the actual construction process well and it is closer to the measured results. Then, the corrosion resistance of corrugated steel culverts has been studied using the method of field corrosion test and salt spray test and compared the features of different anti-corrosion measures. Finally, using the finite element software ABAQUS to establish the three-dimensional entity finite element model which reflected the actual waveforms and the corrosion depths. Then analyze the changes of the stress and displacement of the corrugated steel culvert with different corrosion depths and the effect condition of circumferential corrosion and axial corrosion on displacement and stress of structure. The results show that using hot dip galvanized with asphalt coating to make corrosion control is more effective. With the increase of corrosion depth, the displacement and the maximum stress value increase gradually and the maximum stress always appears in the corrosion areas.Meanwhile, circumferential corrosion gave a more obvious effect on structure than axial corrosion.Through the above research, this paper provides the reference of anticorrosive design and construction for buried corrugated steel pipe-arch culvert.
