The contact of rough surface on mesoscopic scale is slightly convex body. While the two rough surfaces are in contact with each other, the higher micro convex bodies begin to contact at first. In the micro scale conditions, two rough surface contact performance relative to the great change of macro conditions after considering the roughness, with regard to the research on rough surface, the establishment of micro fine under the conditions of the model carries on the analysis is very important and necessary.The study of joint surface micro convex bodies are mainly based on the spherical or ellipsoidal assumption, and a great of corresponding results have been obtained, but the research on micro convex body produced by ground and planed, is relatively short, mostly remaining in the single asperity contact elastic stage. Based on Hertz contact, nonlinear contact analysis, fractal theory and other knowledge, this paper is studied the cylindrical asperity contact characteristics with finite element analysis, at the same time, compared and researched with numerical analysis, finite element analysis and experimental analysis in the way of combining with the contact characteristics, which are as follows:First of all, on the basis of grinding steel rails, adopting the way of equivalent radius of the cylindrical asperity, study the single peak in the contact characteristics of elastic-plastic and plastic contact stages; and then study the characteristics of double peak cylindrical convex, analyze he interaction effect on the contact characteristics and mechanism hypothesis. Use the MATLAB mathematical software to fit the relevant finite element test values, and establish the related prediction models.Secondly, based on M-B fractal theory, combined with the derivation of the formula of contact characteristics of cylindrical single asperity, establish the mathematical model of rail joint surface and use MATLAB software analysing the mathematical model.Finally, use LI-3 tpye profilometer to get 3D shape and 2D morphology data, establish fixed contact model of 2D rough surface, analyze the contact stiffness of true morphology joint surface, and compare the finite element result with the numerical simulation analysis. Further, based single degree of freedom system with the equivalent stiffness identification method, through the slider rail modal test platform of physics experiments in static state, obtain equivalent stiffness per unit area, and verify mathematical model of rail joint surface, the results are identical.Based on the practical application, this paper is studied the contact characteristics of the asperities of the cylinder, and fufilled the finite element analysis of rail joint surface. It has a positive significance f or the further research on the contact characteristics of the surface.
