Vehicle manufacturing industry is the pillar industry of national economy,many new technologies has been developed and applied in vehicles that makes the vehicle industry full of vitality.Vehicular networking is becoming a new growth point in recent years under the background of Internet economy.Although people enjoyed much convenience and comfort when they have cars,the growth quantity of vehicles also leads to many social issues,such as traffic accidents,casualties etc.Doing research about how to protect people from traffic accidents is a important issue for car designers no matter current or future.This paper gives a brief introduction about the methods and contents of vehicle passive safety technology,including body structure crashworthiness and occupant restraint system.Comparing advantages and disadvantages among 3 research methods,this paper mainly focuses on the protection effect of occupant restraint safety system in vehicle frontal crash accidents,analyzing the protection mechanism about the restraint system,do research about how to improve the protection effect by combining CAE method and actual test method.Nowadays there are many crash safety standards and regulations have been formulated by various countries and organizations in the world,this paper compares several typical safety regulations,recommends the occupant damage index and focuses on the most acceptable crash standard NCAP,introduce the background of creation and the crash test process about C-NCAP.Find the way how to improve the performance of restraint system.The research work of this paper is based on the occupant restraint system matching design for a certain car.Through analyzing the design goal,complete simulation modeling by using MADYMO,including dummy,vehicle body,seatbelts,airbag,interior etc,complete model correction about subsystem and vehicle restraint system based on the crash test data according to C-NCAP frontal crash condition requirements,ensure the reliability of the simulation model.Running sensitivity analysis with the model,find the most important parameters from the global system,analyzing the results and choose several parameters for optimization,then arrange orthogonal optimization experiments,finding the best parameters combination of restraint system according to the dummy injury requirement of C-NCAP,making the driver restraint system could have good performance in frontal crash test.
