Traditional optical lens is bulky,heavy,and fixed focal length.With the rapid development of science and technology society,it can not meet the growing needs of human beings.Comparing with the traditional optical lens,the liquid crystal lens has many advantages,such as small,thin,easy integrating,adjustable focusing,fast response time,etc.In this paper,based on the study of the parallel oriented liquid crystal lens with small pretilt angle,we present a single-hole electrode liquid crystal lens in this paper.It is a splay oriented liquid crystal lens that manufactured according to the upper substrate and the lower substrate rubbed in the same parallel direction.In this paper,the optical properties and response time of the liquid crystal lens are studied.Compared with the parallel oriented of liquid crystal lens and the splay oriented state of the same liquid crystal lens cell,the bend oriented state of the liquid crystal lens has a faster response speed.1.The optical properties and response time of the parallel oriented and the splay oriented liquid crystal lens with 50 ?m of cell thickness and 4.5 mm of the diameter of the circular hole are studied.A better-behaved alignment liquid crystal lens was selected and obtained a shorter focal length of 26 cm and a better imaging effect.The response time of the splay oriented liquid crystal lens was compared with that of parallel oriented liquid crystal lens,showing that the response speed of the splay orientation was 9 seconds faster than that of the parallel orientation.2.To further improve the response speed,we adopted the method of reducing the cell thickness to shorten the response time.Using the 20?m spacer as the thickness of the liquid crystal layer,the response time was shortened about 6 times compared with the 50,u m spacer,and greatly improved the response speed of the liquid crystal lens cell.3.Further,we applied a higher driving voltage to the splay oriented liquid crystal lens with a 50 ?m cell thickness for a longer period of time to reach a bend oriented state.The "backflow effect" can be effectively avoided to realize a faster response speed of the liquid crystal lens.The response speed of the bend oriented state is three to four times faster than the response speed of the splay oriented state,and is four to five times faster than the response speed of the parallel liquid crystal lens under the same conditions.4.A spacer of 20 ?m was used as the thickness of the liquid crystal layer,and the response time of the 20 ?m liquid crystal lens cell in the bend oriented state is reduced to about 1.53 s.Although the thin cell achieved fast response speed,the disadvantage is that the focusing performance of the liquid crystal lens degraded.
