Signal processing is the key part of radar system,which completes the digital sampling of the radar echo signal and subsequent signal processing including Digital Down-Conversion,Pulse Compression,Filter,signal detection and target cohesion etc.Along with development of high speed real-time signal processing hardwires technique,the integration level of the digital signal processing system is improved,nowadays,a piece of PCB achieves the processing capability that was fulfilled by many components in a case even in a cabinet before.The system operational capability is increased so as to achieve the calculation speed of several billion times per second;the data interactive capability is enhanced,for example,the transmission speed of Rocket IO exceeds 3Gbps.Generally,its takes DSP chip with FPGA as the core of designing.The eight-core fixed-/floating-point digital signal processor TMS320C6678(hereafter referred to as C6678)with highest performance was developed by TI Company in 2011,which has higher fixed-/floating point operational capability and advantages of high integration and low loss,meanwhile,C6678 integrates RISC and DSP cores,which has the coprocessor with specific functions and high speed serial interface modules of SRapid IO,PCI-E and GENET,therefore,it can access to the network topological structure based on exchange.In this paper,a certain signal processing module is designed by taking C6678 as the core of processing chip.Firstly,the signal processing system architecture,basement interface driving development and some algorithms are discussed and studied in details based on the technique requirements for the digital signal processing of certain air traffic control radar,and then,the system software and hardware designing based on C6678 are studied,including the main peripheral circuit designing,high speed signal processing arrangement and wiring,communication protocol between C6678 and FPGA,high speed transmission and memory of the data,task distribution system within multiple-core,operation performance comparison among C6678,single-core and FPGA,and finally,some practical problems are studied for engineering realization.
