In recent years,China has achieved leapfrog development in rail transportation.It has become an urgent task to ensure the running safety in the process of development toward high density,high speed and heavy load in railway system.It is an effective way to arrange a large number of wireless sensors along the railway line.However,due to the short service life of the chemical battery,the application of the wireless sensor has been restricted.The energy supply problem affects the development of the wireless sensor technology and the intelligent transportation system.Therefore,capturing energy from the surrounding environment has become an important issue.The energy harvesters made of piezoelectric material are highly efficient in collecting the widespread mechanical energy.In this work,the piezoelectric stack energy harvester was used to capture the deformation energy of the track structure.The characteristics of energy harvesting for piezoelectric stack generator were studied in detail by the theoretical analysis combined with the numerical computation.There are five chapters in this article that arranged as follows.The first chapter introduces the background and the significance.The second chapter introduces the basic theory and method.In the third chapter,vehicle-track-harvesters coupling model was established,considering the effect of stiffness of piezoelectric harvesters on the track structure.The dynamic response of track structure was obtained by applying the predictor-corrector method and the electrical output was then derived by using the piezoelectric theory.In addition,the factors affecting the performance of harvesting such as vehicle condition,ballast stiffness and geometric dimension were analyzed.Coupled electrical circuit equations for series and parallel connected multiple harvesters were derived by Kirchhoffs current law in the fourth chapter and the effects of the connection mode,the number of harvester and the installation distance on the energy harvesting performance were discussed.The fifth chapter summarizes the main conclusions.This word provides a reference for further research on the application and design of piezoelectric stack harvester in railway system.
