Electromagnetic transient simulation is mainly used to capture the fast-dynamic process in the system.It needs detailed models of the elements and a small simulation step size,which has large simulation scale and calculation.At the same time,with the development of the interconnected power grid,the distributed generation energy and other new power electronic equipments,electromagnetic transient simulation is faced new problems and challenges,where the calculationspeed of the simulation programis more restricted.In order to quickly and accurately estimate the operating state of the system,the computational efficiency of the simulation program is put forward higher requirements,and it is urgent to improve the calculation speed of electromagnetic transient simulation program.GPU is a multi-core parallel processor,with great computing power and high memory bandwidth.The research of the parallel algorithm based on GPU has great potential in electromagnetic transient simulation.In this paper,a parallel algorithm of matrix exponential for electromagnetic transient simulation of large scale power system based on GPU is proposed.Main work of this thesis is as follows:(1)Compared with some traditional numerical integration algorithms,the basic principle of matrix exponential integral algorithm is described,the numerical accuracy and numerical stability of the matrix exponential algorithm are explained.Besides,the matrix exponential integral algorithmis suitable for parallel computing because of the highly parallel of data.(2)The definition and optimization of kernel function in parallel algorithm are emphatically analyzed,based on matrix exponential integral algorithm which involves only matrix-vector multiplications,some high-performance BLAS library on and CUBLAS library for dense matrices and CUSPARSE Library for sparse matrices are introduced.(3)A parallel algorithm of matrix exponential for electromagnetic transient simulation of large scale power system based on GPU is proposed.A wind farm system is applied to study the algorithm.The version of using CPU only and the version of CPU+GPU which is implemened with hybrid architecture of CPU and GPU,and the version of MATLAB are designed.Through analyzing and comparing the four different versions,the time of GPU is the smallest,and the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed algorithm are verified.
