China gets a great production in rice and wheat,however,there are no effective ways to deal with the straws that abandoned every year.These straws are burned usually that pollutes the environment very much.In rural areas of Northern China,many residences are poor in resisting cold.People have to burn lots of coals and firewood to keep warm that causes great air pollution.Using rice straws for building can be a good solution,at the same time,burning coals in winter can be reduced considerably because of the excellent thermal performance of the straw bale house.The paper references some theses,it's based on tests and simulations.It has researches and analyses on the thermal performance of full size rice straw bale walls,the building technology of modified straw bale house,the house's heating loading and capacity to resist wind pressure.Using the ZHWR-1212 guarded hot box to test the thermal transmittance of the full size rice straw bale walls in different densities and orientations.From comparison and analysis of the testing results,the proper density and orientation of the straw bale that used to build the house can be got.The paper mainly amplifies the house that modified in building ways of straw bales,insulating layers,plastering of the walls and so on.Comparing the heating loading of the testing house to common brick house,it can be found that the testing house has priority in economic and energy consumption.Using the ABAQUS to simulate the capacity to resist the wind pressure of the walls.The result satisfies the related displacement and rigidity.Some problems of the old straw bale houses can be solved by putting forward modified straw bale house,such as the crack of the wall,poor thermal performance and increasing in energy consumption.It can give people comfortable living experience because of its excellent thermal performance.It also can be generalized in Northeast of China because of its economical,energy saving and environmental friendly.
