Based on before research, the axial compression performance of steel reinforced concrete(SRC)rectangular short columns partially confined with CFRP strips were studied by experimental investigation, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis about different slenderness ratio.By the axial compression tests of six column specimens, which were considered the parameter of slenderness ratio. The slenderness ratio of the contrast specimen is 3.2,and the slenderness ratio of other five specimens are from 2.4 to 5.6.Through the tests,it was got to know the failure mechanism and modes of confined columns by different slenderness ratios during loading processs. The relationship between slenderness ratio and axial load capacities were analysised. All confined columns partially failed directly due to the fracture of CFRP.As the slenderness ratio increased, the peak load of confined column decreased. The whole process of the concrete columns include eighteen unconfined and CFRP-confined concrete columns with different slenderness ratio under axial loading was simulated and analyzed by using the ABAQUS.The slenderness ratio of the corresponding composite column specimens was between 2.4 and 32.The finite element method analysis can accurately simulate the whole failure mode of column and strain distributions of the CFRP at peak load.Subsequently, the slenderness ratio limit of the steel-reinforced concrete column confined by CFRP were 19.2.Based on the proposed model, the stability coefficient of concrete columns is introduced through regression analysis of existing test data, and a calculation formula about the bearing capacity is proposed for the unconfined and CFRP-confined concrete columns. The predictions of the formula agree well with the test data and FEM analysis results.
