With the rapid development of infrastructure in our country, the study of slope protection has been paid more and more attention.Recently, the mode of slope protection by combining engineering protection and vegetation protection has been an important development direction.Vegetation slope protection is to protect the slope by means of water and soil consolidation. The results of studies of home and abroad showed that plants played an important role in preventing and controlling slope soil erosion and improving slope stability.Relevant achievements have been applied to engineering practice. In order to further study the mechanism of plant protection, based on the national forestry bureau 948 project "Introduction of key technologies for landscape restoration of deep cut slope" and took the native plants of Hunan as the object of study.A series of experimental studies were carried out to research. The main achievements were as follows:(1)The retention of plant stems and leaves showed a linear change with water absorption. The greater the plant interception, the greater the water absorption rate. The plant stem and leaf quality showed linear variation with the retention amount, but didn't be relate to the water absorption rate of plants.(2)Under the rainfall condition, the cumulative scour amount of the slope soil had different function relationship with time. The runoff and runoff coefficient of slope increased first with time, but then became stable after peak. The slope erosion of vegetation protection was much smaller than the unprotected slope.(3)Under the condition of the same rainfall intensity, the vegetation protection slope has better stability coefficient and better stability than the unprotected slope. The stability coefficient of slope decreases with the increase of rainfall intensity.(4)Unprotected slopes could remain stable at 2.0mm/min rainfall intensity. When the rainfall intensity was 2.5mm/min,the slope could only remain basically stable. When the rainfall intensity was 3.0mm/min,the slope was in unstable state.Vegetation slope protection can keep stable state in 2.5mm/min rainfall intensity. When rainfall intensity was 3.0mm/min,the slope stability was between stable and unstable state. When the rainfall intensity exceeded 3.0mm/min,the slope could only remain basically stable,so other measures should be taken to strengthen the protection.
