As the rapid development of bridge industry in China,the number of dangerous bridges and sick bridges in the highway network continuously increases,and some outstanding problems in the maintenance and management of highway bridges gradually emerge: lack of detailed conservation and management,reconstruction and maintenance-ignoring,and information isolated island and so on.In recent years,the construction industry has entered the information age since the development of BIM theory and technology.However,due to the influence of the traditional two-dimensional design pattern deep into the design industry,the ideas and the methods of BIM,is still in the preliminary exploration stage.Based on the actual needs of bridge maintenance and management in China and the existing researches,the research on the applications of BIM technology in bridge information management,condition assessment and decision making was carried out in this paper.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)Bridge information management based on BIM technologyBased on the goal of integrated information management in bridge construction and maintenance,the BIM heterogeneous data management method for operation and maintenance stage was put forward.Besides,in order to realize the visual management of bridge maintenance information,the concept of establishing bridge three-dimensional model and test data integration platform was determined.On the basis of the analysis of the hierarchical bridge information model,the bridge component coding system for the maintenance and management stage was determined.The expression of bridge defect simulated by the three-dimensional module was established,and the visual management of bridge disease was put forward,which provided a certain technical basis for bridge disease display based on BIM.(2)Application of BIM technology to assist bridge condition assessmentThe main types,characteristics and causes of the concrete bridge diseases were summarized,and the relational database and VBA project manager were used to conduct the theoretical algorithm analysis for the bridge crack,as well as the user interface design of automatic maintenance decision-making recommendation system.The framework of bridge assistant decision support system based on BIM was preliminarily established,and the method in the applications of VBA project manager in developing the bridge evaluation decision-making process was proposed,which provided a certain research basis for realizing the automation and visualization of the bridge maintenance and management.(3)The implementation of BIM-based information management platform in construction periodThe Yushan Bridge in Daishan County,which is still under construction,was considered as the engineering background.The BIM model of that bridge was established.The detailed applications of the BIM technology in the construction stage was discussed,and the BIM-based bridge construction information management platform was implemented,which can provide the database foundation and references for realizing BIM-based bridge maintenance and management system.
