Drying operation is an important part in the process of industrial and agricultural production,which is one of the most energy consuming processes.In developing countries,solar drying is capable of fulfilling the increasing demand of healthy,low cost natural foods and need for sustainable income.Solar dryers used for agricultural product drying can be proved to be most useful device from energy conservation point of view that not only save energy but also save a lot of time,occupying less area and improves product quality.According to the analysis of the test data,the best drying temperature of drying lemon slices is between 60? and 80?.And the optimum thickness of drying lemon slices is between 3mm and 5mm.When the air was used as the thermal conductivity,the performance of the dryer was observed to be highly affected by the solar radiation.Day and night temperature difference was great.The best drying time was about 9 hours.Dried lemon slices required between 1 and 2 days.When the water was used as the thermal conductivity,the performance of the dryer was observed to be little affected by the solar radiation.The dryer has a stable drying condition.Temperature fluctuation is small.The dryer can also continue to dry with the heat stored during the day at night.The best drying time was about 13 hours.Dried lemon slices required between 2 and 3 days.In summary,the solar dryer can significantly shorten the drying cycle,improve product quality and technical content of the drying process of agricultural products,and enhance the added value of products to make the product more competitive.
