With the intensification of the contradiction between supply to demand of oil and other non-renewable energy, the development of new renewable energy is becoming the strategic research trend to various countries, and wind energy is becoming the one of the most valuable green energy because of the advantages of rich in resources,cost-effective,no pollution. Relative to the mature development of horizontal axis wind turbine, the straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine was concerned of the advantage including simple structure with lower center of gravity, collecting wind with no yaw device, easy to install and maintain,but limited to the poor startup performance and low utilization rate of wind power it couldn't be widely commercial applied. Aiming at the problem of the straight bladed vertical axis wind turbine,a variable pitch vertical wind turbine was designed in this paper to improve the startup performance and the utilization rate of wind power through the application of the variable pitch law.Complete the electromechanical integration design of the straight-bladed vertical wind turbine with variable-pitch according to the domestic and foreign development and based on the analysis of the operation principle.The structure design including the design of transmission, pitch-controlled structure and so on. The control system design including pitch-controlled servo system, data communication system and other hardware and software design.Through the analysis of the movement and force to the straight-bladed vertical wind turbine, it can be verified that the application of variable-pitch improve the performance of the straight-bladed vertical wind turbine. Based on the ANSYS Workbench to complete the strength, stiffness and modal analysis and checking of the straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine.Complete the design and optimization of the variable-pitch law by analysist of the theory of the variable-pitch wind turbine in combination with the aerodynamic experiment of the blade. Complete the modeling and simulation of the variable-pitch control system based on the MATLAB Simulink tool and adjus the parameters of the simulation control system to verify the application of variable-pitch law is feasibility and have analysed the error of the variable-pitch.Complete the manufacture of the variable-pitch vertical axis wind turbine prototype and set up the experiment platform, adjustet the closed-loop servo control system in the wind field and improve the performance of variable-pitch following by the actual phase compensation experiment. Verify the startup performance of variable-pitch vertical axis wind turbine through the contrast experiment and and test its power performance. Complete the impact experiment of the variable-pitch error to its performance.
