In recent years,the construction and development of structures has been changing with each passing day.The emergence of these huge building structures not only satisfies living needs of people increasing day by day,but also raises concerns about so many problems of collapse for experts and scholars.Such as the collapse of structures under extreme load such as the earthquake,it often causes casualties and economy reducing.So it is important to analyze the nonlinear mechanics behavior of structures under complex load.The vector form intrinsic finite element(VFIFE)method,as an innovative concept of structures behavior analysis,is a new method of solve the nonlinear or discontinuous mechanics behavior such as large deformation,large deflection,elastoplasticity,collision and collapse.Firstly,this paper introduces the comprehensive concept of VFIFE,and describes the calculation process of beam element in detail.The theoretical calculation formula of the fiber beam element based on the stiffness method is used in VFIFE program.And a cantilever beam's elastic-plastic example is calculated to certify the effectiveness of this method.Secondly,based on the VFIFE programs,it makes numerical simulation of dynamic response and buckling failure of a single-layer latticed shell.And this result certifies the reliability of the dynamic instability simulation.Finally,using the fiber beam element based on the stiffness method,it analyzes the hysteretic curve of common concrete and ultra high toughness cementitious composites(UHTCC)columns by introducing different constitutive relations.And the results of this example demonstrate that it is effective to simulate the nonlinear mechanical behavior of the reinforced concrete beam column under cycling load,and the mechanical properties of columns have obvious improvement by using UHTCC to take the place of common concrete.
