Over the past decade,with the increase of economic strength and the improvement of engineering technology,our country has built a number of bridges connect the mainland and islands in the coastal areas.These bridges provide powerful guarantee for promote the economic development of island area.However,our motherland is one of the three countries that most influenced by the typhoon disaster in the world,every year a large number of casualties,property losses and destruction of marine engineering buildings are caused by typhoon.Considering this situation,it is very necessary to study the wave loads on the coastal bridge when the typhoon comes although the damaged case has not yet occurred.In this paper,the previous studies at home and abroad of this topic is summarized at first.On the basis of summarize the existed research results,this paper points out the shortcoming of the existed research.Then combined with the actual situation of the coastal bridge construction in our country,this paper decide to take the box girder bridge as the research object.Then select the Fujian Pingtan strait highway-railway bridge which use the box girder structure as reference,building the sectional model of girder structure in the non-reflection wave flume.The wave and hydrological conditions at the bridge site are used as input conditions and tested.The force on the box girder model under different working conditions was measured.Test results prove that the vertical wave force is the main driving force for the instability of box girder structure;the peak value of the vertical wave force usually appears in the condition that the sea level is slightly higher than the top deck of box girder;variation of box girder bottom elevation has little influence on the vertical wave force,but has certain influence on the horizontal wave force.At last,the experiment is summarized and the further research direction is put forward.
