Cable lines of transmission is an important part of the power transmission network at present,its status of running is directly related to the reliability of power supply network.Now,the fault detection device to the power cable can not guarantee the accuracy and promind the results of the test effective,this paper studies a detective method on-line for the power cable fault,It has practical application value.At first this paper introduce the common cable fault and what the common causes,and then review and analyze the traditional fault detection method of power lines,after the detailed analysis of the wave traveling process in cable line,it is difficult to determine the exact arrival time of the wave and determine the second arrive of traveling wave in the process of traditional detective,introduce the detective method on-line for the power cable fault and put forward the solving method of problems in paper process.At thirst verify the the methods by dealing with the calculation of the MATLAB simulation data,At last proved the feasibility of the proposed method in this paper by combining with the actual experiment situations.The traveling wave fault location method mentioned in this paper can be used in the present power supply cables followed railway,the city network of cable,the experiment proves that the measuring method mentioned in this paper can reduce the ranging error,about within 10m,improved the accuracy of measurement,greatly reducing the fault finding time,improve the reliability of power supply.
