Nuclear power is an efficient,economical and clean energy,it has made tremendous contributions to solve the energy and environmental issues.Nuclear power plant construction process should take full account of its defensive natural disasters,earthquakes are one of the major external hazards faced by nuclear power plants,it has an important impact on the overall risk of nuclear power plants.Therefore,the evaluation for nuclear power plants earthquake risk has very important significance.Seismic margin assessment method is one of the important methods of carrying out nuclear power plants earthquake disaster risk assessment.Nuclear power plants can assess its’ seismic capacity and its’ nuclear plant weaknesses when earthquake is happening by conducting seismic margin evaluation.This paper is based on a coastal nuclear power plant,and to evaluate its’ seismic capacity by the method of Electric Power Research Institute Seismic Margin Assessment.Firstly,this paper is based on the seismic and geologic conditions of this nuclear power plant,design basis earthquake,which include sports safety seismic shock and limit safety seismic shock.Design the nuclear power plant design response spectrum.This paper also describes the structures,systems and components should meet conditions in the limit of the safety requirement and the methods of seismic qualification of equipment.Secondly,this paper describes the related knowledge of the seismic margin level of ground motion and seismic margin earthquake spectrum and the methods of how to determine the seismic margin earthquake spectrum.This paper determines the seismic margin of this nuclear power plant by reference to the relevant literatures and combined with the site design spectrum and the site ground response spectrum.Finally,this paper takes detailed calculation and analysis on the High Confidence Low Probability Of Failure capacity of structures,systems and components.These structures include shear wall,seismic wall,cockpit ceiling,mechanical equipment and electrical instrumentation and control equipment.This work can find the weak link of the nuclear power plant when earthquake and evaluate the plant.Then we can get the result of the Seismic Margin Assessment of this nuclear power plant at last.
