With global get warming, the speed of glacier melting becomes faster, the range of the ice sheet was shrinking,arctic,which is an important strategic position, was paid more and more attention by the relevant countries. Whether the remarkable arctic routes were opened,or the arctic was regarded as an ore, oil and gas resources reserve base, the expedition,exploration and development work of arctic was subject to wide attention. On this basis, the research work of ship performance in ice, such as icebreaker, ice carrier and research vessel,is already imminent.In recent decades, the research area of the ship in ice has focused on the icebreaking ability, ice load and ship structural strength of icebreaker and research vessel. With diversification of ice ships research, the ship performance in crushed ice was paid more and more attention. Ship sailing resistance in crushed ice is a very important problem in the early design stage. But domestic research in this field is in its infancy stage, include ice ship model experiment, numerical simulation prediction technology and ship-ice effective theory analysis,there are many problems has not been touched yet.Therefore,this paper studied the sailing ship resistance performance problems in ice,conduct the ice-class carrier ship model test in Harbin engineering university ship model towing tank under the condition of the crushed ice. This paper detailed introduces the preparation of the test process. This model test contains three kinds of crushed ice intensity and six different speed points of navigation process,received and analyzed crushed ice resistance test data. At the same time,this paper accomplished numerical simulation based on the finite element method for the whole process of ice ships sailing in the area of the crushed ice, studied the finite element ideas to solve the problems of the ice ship sailing resistance forecast including basic principle and method, the penalty method, the ALE method and so on.this paper accomplished numerical simulation based on the frozen ice model test under the same conditions of three ice density and six different speed point, numerical simulation was introduced in detail, include the the numerical modeling ,settings of boundary conditions,modification of K file and the process of calculation. At the same time, the simulation phenomenon was observed and the force between ship and crushed ice was output in post-processing software, which was compared with the test results. Through ice ship model test and finite element numerical simulation,this paper compares the two methods for the ice-class ship resistance performance problems, in order to provide technical support for the design of ice ships, cold resistance and navigation safety problems.
