Because of the excellent movement characteristics, planning craft is widely used in civil fields, military and sports competition, etc. With the rapid development and evolution inmilitary area, planning craft lines shape is changed from round bilge to the deep V-shaped, the hull turning from monohull ship to multi-hull ship. In recent years, with the rise of unmanned planning craft, planning craft 's application domain expands gradually, and the research of planning craft's hydrodynamic performance becomes a hot area. The molded lines determine the hydrodynamic performance of planning craft, and it is a difficulty question on how to find the balance between seakeeping and resistance. In this paper, the ship type is changed to improve seakeeping, also considering for resistance.Due to the motion characteristics of planing craft,there is a deviation in the calculation of the performance of planing craft by kinds of commercial CFD software. Ship model test is still a main method to study performance of planing craft. According to the result of ship model test, mother ship's hull line is modeled by Maxsurf software,at the same time, ship's displacement and waterline length parameters are analyzed through its hydrostatics function,in which the mother ship is compared to ensure consensus between hull lines and the mother ship. The calm water resistance is calculated by Maxsurf resistance module, and then is compared with the ship model's test value in order to ensure the reliability of Maxsurf resistance module's calculation concerning calm water resistance.The hull geometric model is modeled with Maxsurf software and then impoted into Gambit to divide the finite element; the seakeeping performance is analyzed with Hydrostar based on 3D frequency domain theory, and then is compared with ship model's test value in order to ensure reliability of numerical simulation.After verifying the correctness, mother ship is transformed to bulid ship database with Maxsurf. The seakeeping performance and hydrostatic resistance of Ship database are studied with Maxsurf and Hydrostar.Finally, based on the seakeeping performance indicators of individual vertical swing,pitching, stern acceleration and other parameters,the optimum ship type is determined with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). By comparing the optimized ship seakeeping prediction and the mother ship, it can be judged the safety of navigation at sea state two.
