Recent years,with the development of social economy in our country,carried out a series of large-scale infrastructure construction,rising demand for medium and coarse sand resources.Sand used in construction is mostly river sand,which sharply decreased due to over exploitation.Meanwhile,sand extraction will cause irretrievable damage to the ecological environment,so finding other sand source is extremely urgent.Sea sand can be easily got and used for construction industry in the coastal area,which may cause great damage to the building.Some achievements have been made in the research of recycled fine aggregate,but its various performance are inferior to original aggregate such river sand.The desert sand resources are abundant in Xinjiang area,but it is not usually used due to extremely fine particles in actual construction projects.If the desert sand can be used rationally to replace common sand,not only solve the shortage of construction demand,also make full use of local resources and save project funds.Basalt fiber is a kind of man-made fiber,which possesses such as high elastic modulus,low elongation,high and low temperature and corrosion resistance,so widely used in all walks of life.Mortar is brittle material.If the basalt fiber is added to the mortar,which not only can improve the toughness of mortar,but also inprove the overall bearing capacity of masonry.Firstly,the paper studies the physical properties of desert sand and common sand,through test,confecting desert sand and common sand mortar for M5 and M10.Secondly,taking the compressive strength as the goal,the best desert sand replacement rate is 30%;Taking the replacement rate of desert sand and the amount of short cut basalt fiber as the factors,and compressive strength and flexural strength as the target value,conducted orthogonal test,and got the best combination for 4 groups.In the end,taking common sand mortar for M5 and M10 as contrast group,built 30 axial compression specimens and conducted axial compression test of brick masonry.Study the influence of desert sand and fiber on the axial compression of masonry.Finally,through the experiment obtain the feasibility of desert sand mortar instead of common sand mortar,solve some of technical problems and construction problems to be applied in practical engineering.
