Aluminum foam material is a new type of material that developed in recent years.This type of materials’ inner structure is based on metallic framework.Aluminum foam contains a large number of pores,which contains plenty of holes.Due to the large number of holes,this type of multifunctional material has a strong designability.Based on this advantage,researchers make the aluminum become aluminum sandwich structures.This structures can protect other structures from being damaged and shows well energy absorption capability when it under impact force.According to the merit,the aluminum sandwich structures has been recognize a protective structure which has been applied in vary industrials,such as aerospace,automobile,transportation and architecture.Aluminum foam sandwich beam’s main structure is combined with two thinner but high strength plates and aluminum foam core material.When the structure is subjected to the blast load,the two plates are mainly under in-plane force and bending force.The core materials have large deformability,so it can absorb more energy and protect structure being damage.The plate material is aluminum plates and steel.Traditional preparation methods of aluminum sandwich panel are bonding or welding.The manufacture of bonding method is simply and easy to operation,but it is mainly bonding at the pores.So,when the structure under impact force,it can easily cause stripping between the core and the surface for the bonding sandwich panel.In this manuscript,the traditional sandwich beam was made by this method.The dynamic properties of this sandwich beam were investigated by changing the different impact velocity,the different boundry conditions and the different specimens’ thickness.Based on the traditional method,a simple manufacture process and strong impact energy absorption,which is also not easy to crack,a kind of integrated composite sandwich panel of aluminum foam and epoxy resin is proposed.The upper and lower sides of the structure are aluminum-resin composite layers,and the middle core is aluminum foam.The plates and core has been connect a whole without obviouslyinterface.The overall performance has been improved greatly.When this structure is subjected to impact force,the plates and core is not strip out,which improve structure strength greatly.The main works of this manuscript are:According to the quasi-static bending experiment,the drop-weight impact experiment has been carrying on the traditional sandwich beam and the integrated composite sandwich panel of aluminum foam and epoxy resin.Through varying different impact velocity,different boundary conditions,different specimens thickness,the mechanical of the two types of aluminum foam sandwich beam and energy absorption under different parameter influence has been analysis.At the same condition,the drop-weight impact experiment was conducted on the aluminum foam beam.The results has been compared.
