With the advancement of the science and technology and the society,the application of tube gelled battery is more and more extensive such as industrial projects and in the field of life.But compared with the international standards,there are some problems in the performance of gelled battery which produced in China like low capacity,low cycle number,difficulty of adding glue and uniformity.In this paper,this work begins with an analysis of mass production of gelled battery which are used as the backup power.The colloid gelation mechanism is analyzed by the effect of silica percentage,particle diameter,acid concentration,working temperature and agitation method on colloidal silica gel properties.It can be concluded that the performance(gel time,gel strength,conductivity)of gelled electrolyte have an important link with silica percentage,diameter of particles,acid concentration,working temperature and mixing method.Under the same condition of mixing method,the smaller diameter of particles,the more the percent of silica,the higher acid concentration,the higher working temperature,the shorter the gelled time,0.25 % additive A can be significantly used to improve the performance of gelled electrolyte.According to the company's current situation and experiment experience,it can be determined the most suitable for tube type gel battery technology standard and the best formula for gelled electrolyte: diameter of particles is 20 nm,the percent of silica is 8 %,acid concentration is 35 %,the additive A is 0.25 %,the working temperature is 28 ?.The gelled battery is produced according to the formula which is used to compared with AGM battery: water loss ability,100 % DOD cycle performance,performance of constant current charging capacity at different current values,performance of the cycle ability under the under-charged state,continuous high current discharge performance,ability of high temperature accelerated the float cycle performance,the over-discharge performance.According the results,it is concluded that the gelled battery behaved well with less water loss,higher charging efficiency,stable discharge voltage platform,longer cycle life and so on.
