Shape Memory alloys(SMA,a new type of alloy material)has been applied to structural vibration control field due to its good physical properties.Based on this background,this paper develops a new type of damper by using NiTi SMA wire,from material performance test,the development of the damper,mechanical test of the damper,the establishment of the mechanics model to energy dissipation effect analysis,the article conducts a series of theoretical analysis and experimental research,the main research work is as follows:(1)Mechanical experiment is conducted based on the required materials of the damper.Three kinds of diameter of NiTi SMA wires are tested under the unidirectional cyclic tensile test to explore the effects of the loading rate,strain amplitude on the mechanics parameters of SMA.Shear lead and compression spring are also tested to study the effect of loading rate on their mechanical properties providing important basis for the development of new type damper and simulation of its mechanical model in the next step.(2)An innovative re-centering shape memory alloys-shearing lead damper is proposed based on the super elasticity of SMA and the energy dissipation property of lead when yield.Introduce the new structure and working mechanism of the SMA damper.A model of the damper is made and tested under mechanical experiment to study the impact of different loading rates and displacement amplitudes on its mechanical properties under cyclic loading.The results prove that the damper has a good energy-dissipating ability.Using SIMULINK simulates its theoretical model and comparison is made between numerical simulation and experimental results,which verifies the correctness of the theoretical analysis.(3)To validate the damping effect of the new SMA damper,a model is constructed by using SIMULINK toolbox in MATLAB to analyze a six floors steel framework with and without damper in the way of the elastic-plastic time history analysis.At the same time,five kinds of damper location cases are set up to explore the effect of arrangement of the damper on the vibration control,the results show that the arrangement of the damper has a great influence on the control effect.Through reasonable layout,it can perform a good effect in vibration control.
