This research focuses on dynamic complexity evaluation method during Manually Controlled Rendezvous and Docking(MCRVD).The research is oriented from the engineering demands of Chinese astronaut training and is combined with the research basis of complexity classification and evaluation of other fields, and aims to provide the academic method of Chinese astronaut training technology. In this paper, the complexity theory model from the view of dynamic complexity was established, and the dynamic environment influence on the astronaut during MCRVD was analyzed. In order to achieve the above purpose, the definition of complexity was firstly introduced, then the characteristics of operational taxonomic complexity and MCRVD process were combined, finally, the basic concept of complexity was presented in the procedure of MCRVD,the mainly elements of complexity in the mission of MCRVD operation were defined, the study analyzed the factors which will have impact on the astronauts manual control process, the evaluating indicator of instantaneous and cumulative complexity in the mission of MCRVD operation was established.,and the calculation of these parameters were analyzed, the measurement model of dynamic complexity in MCRVD was firstly identified. On the basis of the theoretical model, the experimental research was conducted to test the effectiveness of dynamic complexity evaluation. The independent variables includes operator type, task difficulty and training level, the dependent variables were the performing result of each MCRVD mission.Ten volunteers were divided into expert and novice group and participated in the experiment, which consisted of three stages, seven trials. The interval between adjacent trials was two or three days. Each trial consisted of nine different operation units which were divided into three difficulty levels, except that the first trial consisted of six units.Through analysis of diversity and correlation of the experimental data, the instantaneous complexity and cumulative complexity measure method was verified, the following conclusions were got:(1)Different task difficulty and training level, instantaneous complexity had significant difference, the instantaneous complexity metric method in a certain extent can reflect the difficulty of the task and the level of training.(2)During the first minute of the operation, with the skill improved, instantaneous complex degree of correlation degree and operation time increased.(3)Different task difficulty, the level of training and test groups, cumulative complexity has significant differences, the cumulative complexity metric method can reflect the difficulty of the task, training the level and type of operation.(4)The number of operations, operation duration and cumulative complexity have a significant positive correlation with the level of training, increased the difficulty and improve relevance of the cumulative complexity and operation duration decreased, enhance the correlation and the number of operations. As a part of National Natural Science Foundation of China(71001092),this study explored the dynamic complexity evaluation of MCRVD for the first time, and the dynamic complexity evaluation was tested by designed experiments. The research in the field of dynamic complexity evaluation was enriched. The conclusion of this study could be used in the comprehensive evaluation of training effect of MCRVD.It could also be taken as reference for both the flight crew selection and training and the monitoring of dynamic complexity during the operation.Besides, this study is useful to the evaluation of dynamic complexity in other fields and tasks.
