The development of more-electric/all-electric aircraft technology has put forward higher performance requirements for airborne power supply system,especially the input current harmonic content.Harmonic component of current will significantly affect the quality of power and cause the grid pollution.It will reduce energy efficiency obviously.Therefore,the suppression of input current harmonic content of airborne power supply has been a hot topic.As animportant AC/DC power conversion equipment for high performance aviation power system,multi-pulse autotransformer is widely used in aviation field.Several sets of three-phase electric power with certain phase shift angle are generated by autotransformer.Special frequency harmonics can be eliminated by square wave superposition,so the input current has low total harmonic content and the performance of multi-pulse autotransformer can be improved.This paper analyzed the working principle of 18-pulse autotransformer rectifier emphatically,and the theoretical research on three kinds of asymmetric topology is studied and simulated.Aiming at the requirement for voltage regulation with 18-pulse Autotransformer-Rectifier,based on the advantage of present topology,a novel step-down 18-pulse topology is designed and optimized.The wide range of step-down regulator can be achieved by a certain winding connection and winding turns ratio.Universal design formula is derived and the input-output performance is studied theoretically in this paper.The optimal structure parameters of autotransformer under the same step-down ratio are obtained by optimization design.The detailed design process of the prototype is given and the rationality of the topology is verified by simulation analysis and experimental research.
