Photoacoustic imaging(PAI)is a new imaging method developed in recent years.This method is based on the photoacoustic effect,which reconstructs the internal information of the sample from the detected photoacoustic signal induced from the specimen.Due to the advantages of high resolution of optical imaging technology and deep penetration depth of acoustic imaging technology,PAI could provide the high resolution and high contrast of two-dimensional or three-dimensional images.In this study,we developed a mechanical and electrical control modules of photoacoustic microscopy system,such as designing the hardware and software.Then,several biomedical imaging experiments were designed to verify the performance and reliability of the present system.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1.According to the principle of photoacoustic imaging,we designed the technical solution of the mechanical and electrical control modules of photoacoustic microscopy system.Then,the details of demonstration and designation for each part was studied.2.The hardware of the control system and the data processing part were implemented.In brief,the hardware part mainly included the control of two-dimensional scanning platform,construction of the fiber optical path,capture of photoacoustic signal and signal collection.3.Using commercial LabVIEW software,we programmed the codes to realize the user control panel and image display functions,including two-dimensional scanning control,serial port communication,data acquisition and storage.Moreover,the command control software package was developed to control the PC serial port communication and scanning platform.4.The tests were used to verify the performance of the present system.For example,the preliminary microvascular and organ imaging experiments were carried out.In a summary,this study has successfully built a set of mechanical and electrical control modules of photoacoustic microscopy imaging system.In addition,the system was verified by several experiments in capillaries and viscera imaging applications.The results in this paper lay the foundation of investigating photoacoustic imaging technology in the field of biomedical imaging,and provide favorable conditions for studying in further study.
