The number of ultra high-rise building in China is growing fast in recent years,most of these buildings are high-grade commercial office buildings.This type of building usually requires high demand of architectural acoustical design,mainly embodied in the complex and various acoustical design contents.The main architectural acoustical designs of the ultra high-rise building include: the design of the sound isolation in buildings,building noise control,the sound quality design for special rooms,etc.“Z15 Tower” is an under-built ultra high-rise building in Beijing whose owner is CHINA CITIC BANK.The height of “Z15 Tower” is 528 meters and it will be the highest building in Beijing after its completion.The main service functions of “Z15 Tower” include office function,conference,business,tourism,etc.Such a representative building involves all of architectural acoustical designs of commercial office building.There are five reasons for the lackness of the relative source and literatures for this study as follows:1.The architectural acoustical design of ultra high-rise building is comprehensive acoustical problems,it is fairly difficult to summarize the key points of acoustical design.2.The acoustical designer could use some experiences used in normal buildings to design the architectural acoustical issues in ultra high-rise building.3.The development of ultra high-rise building in China is fast in recent years,but the whole number of ultra high-rise building is relative small,architectural acoustical designers and researchers don't have many chances to participate the architectural acoustical designs of the ultra high-rise building.4.Many land developers don't value the importance of architectural acoustical designs.On the other hand,there are some different points of architectural acoustical designs between ultra high-rise building and normal buildings as follows:1.The equipment rooms are placed throughout the building due to the height of ultra high-rise building is much taller than the normal buildings.Like the condition in the “Z15 Tower”,there will be equipmental floor and refuge floor every ten floors.Itdemands a higher isolation level and equipment noise control level for the equipmental floor and building machines.2.Express elevators are used in the ultra high-rise building,the noise level of this kind of elevator is much higher than normal-speed elevator.It demands a higher isolation level and equipment noise control level for elevator machines.3.Many architect are inclined to use the glass as the curtain wall of the ultra high-rise building,it demans high isolation level of glass curtain wall.4.The constructors are inclined to choose lightweight materials to construct the ultra high-rise building due to its height,it means many traditional sound insulation materials would not to be used in the ultra high-rise buildings.It is another issue to should be focused that using lightweight materials to isolate the noise.5.Cooling towers are placed outdoors in the normal conditions,but in many ultra high-rise buildings,like “Z15 Tower”,the cooling towers will be placed indoors,in addition of demands of higher isolation level of these cooling towers rooms,the waterproof level of the acoustic absorbed materials should be focused due to the rooms' high-humidity nature.As discussed before,there are many differences of architectural acoustical designs between ultra high-rise buildings and the normal buildings.The the aim of this study is mainly to conclude the key points of the architectural acoustical design work of ultra high-rise building by participating the actual architectural acoustic design of “Z15 Tower”,and to find out the special acoustical designs in “Z15 Tower” compared with other buildings which have normal heights.
