Steel shear panel dampers(SPD)are widely used in construction and bridge because of simple production,low cost and high energy dissipation.The traditional SPD have some disadvantages,such as the web buckle easily and the brittle damage appear in welded position of the web and stiffeners.Base on this question,two new buckling restrained shear panel dampers are proposed in this paper.They are investigated by the experimental and finite element simulation method.The main conclusions included:(1)Based on the disadvantages of traditional SPD,two new buckling restrained shear panel dampers are proposed in this paper and they are called pure-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper and bend-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper.According to the difference state of bearing force,the initial stiffness and the yield load and the size of buckling restrained plate formulas are derived by combining the theory and numerical method.(2)The quasi-static test is carried out to the pure-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper.In addition,the pure-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper is compared to tradition SPD of welding stiffeners to investigate its hysteresis performance.The results indicate that the pure-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper proposed in this paper have good hysteresis performance and its hysteresis loop is very plump.Besides it has good ductility.The size of buckling restrained plate has important influence to the hysteresis performance.If the width and height of damper are too large,the damper will destroy when the load displacement is not very large.And if the thickness of buckling restrained plate is too thin,the buckling restrained plate will not be able to afford enough stiffness to restrain the web buckling deformation.The spacing of the web and buckling restrained plate has influence on the hysteresis performance of damper.When the spacing is larger,the plastic deformation of web is much larger and the energy dissipated by damper is much more.But the equivalent viscous damping ratio will reduce.The addition of rubber and lubricating oil between the buckling restrained plate and the web has little effect on the performance of the damper.(3)The quasi-static test is carried out to the bend-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper.The results indicate that bend-shear buckling restrained shear panel damper has good hysteresis performance.The buckling restrained plate can restrain the web buckling effectively.When the buckling restrained plate is not fixed,the buckling restrained plate has an importance influence to the hysteresis performance of damper.If the height is too large,the buckling restrained plate will bear force directly and the restoring force will increase suddenly.When the buckling restrained plate is fixed.The friction of web and buckling restrained plate increase and the restoring force of damper increase.(4)The finite element model of buckling restrained shear panel damper is built by finite element software ABAQUS.Then the parameter analysis of damper is carried out by using it.The analysis result indicate that the width-to-thickness ratio and height-to-width ratio of web have little effect on the performance of the buckling restrained shear panel damper.When the width-to-thickness ratio of web is small.The plastic deformation of web is small,and the energy dissipation capacity is relative little.But the equivalent viscous damping ratio is relative large on the contrary.When the width-to-thickness ratio of web is too large,the bearing force state of web change from pull-press pole to pull-pole.The energy dissipation capacity of damper reduce.The height-to-width ratio of web has no influence to the energy dissipation capacity of buckling restrained shear panel damper.
