The wooden structure buildings is a typical representative of Chinese ancient architecture.It has long history,complex structures and seismic performance.It represents the development level of Chinese ancient science and technology,which has a very high scientific,artistic and historical value.Mortise tenon joint is the soul of ancient Chinese timber structure,at the same time,it is one of the common earthquake damage of wood structure.In this paper,the types,mechanism and failure modes of tenon and mortise joints are summarized.Based on the method of?Ying Zao Fa Shi?,the model of the eight-tailed tenanton wood frame was established.By using the finite element software,the influence of the gap between the dovetail joints on the bearing capacity of eight timber frame is studied.In this paper,the lateral stiffness of the frame and the hysteretic energy dissipation of the frame are studied by the static and cyclic loads in the horizontal direction.The performance of the same kind of dovetail frame is different under the action of vertical load.The hysteretic curve,skeleton curve,friction energy dissipation curve andpullout capacity of timber frame are obtained under the action of horizontal static load.The results show that with the increase of the vertical weight,the phenomenon of the "pinch" phenomenon of the hysteretic curve is obvious,and the lateral stiffness and the energy dissipation are larger.Under the action of the same vertical weight,the performance of the dovetail frame is different.The advantages of the timber frame are presented as follows: "No gap,End gap,Lateral gap,End and side gap".The damage of lateral joints to the lateral stiffness and seismic performance of the frame is much larger than that of the end joint.The existence of the dovetail slot reduces the bearing capacity of the timber frame,and establishes a new timber frame model by using the method of filling the gaps.The results of numerical simulation show that the performance of the repaired timber frame is much larger than that of the strip model,and it is close to the model.A bad column root architecture model was builded,which was compared with the intact model to analysis of the impact of root rot column on bearing performance of wooden frame.
