Structure style of cable-stayed bridge without backstays is creative,the mechanical properties of it is different from regular cable-stayed bridge,using the own weight moment of the pylon to balance the cable overturning moment is the typical feature,the pylon and beam constitute a structure balance system.so canceling the backstays is feasible.At the same time,cable-stayed bridge without backstays is elegent,it can achive the bridge use and decorative function,cable-stayed bridge without backstays now becomes landmark in many cities or regions,it is in concordance with the natural and cultural landscapes.In recent years,the bridge style is using to build the middle or small span bridges at home and abroad.This paper is in the background of the bridges construction in engineering training center bridge engineering practical training site of Shijiazhuang Tiedao University,commissioned by related departments of the university,the task is designing two bridges in it for teaching and research,including a 1-32 m single pylon cable-stayed bridge without backstays and a 1-24 m concrete through arch bridge,this paper studys on the design method and design process of 1-32 m single pylon practical training cable-stayed bridge without backstays.Because of the special load on the bridge,there are no suitable design specifications,so the railway and highway bridge design specifications can be referenced.From regular cable-stayed bridge to cable-stayed bridge without backstays,the structure systems and structure features of them are expounded,the basic theory of structure overall and local balance the structure features and structure systems of is explained.This paper lists design standards and specifications,propces the structure style and structure size of the bridge.Utilizing the finite element analysis software——midas Civil to bulid the bridge model at the stage of completion in the first step,then defines the tensile force of stays at the stages of construction,simulates all the stages of costruction and completion of the cable-stayed bridge without backstays,analyzes the computing result.This bridge satisfies the requirements of the design specifications and the demands of teaching and research.
