Different from commonly-seen product appearance designs,auto modeling design has a series of established and complex development processes.As a kind of creative designing activities,limited by multiple engineering technical requirements,they are required to not only rely on personal ideas from designers,but also meet with cognitions of mainstream customers.Besides of giving adequate aesthetic tastes,auto model should also contain rich cultural connotations.Under the background that auto brands from all over the world have competed intensely for dominance of the global market,each brand also hope to set a distinctive flag with its own national characteristics in the world's forests.With the nearly 10-year rapid development in Chinese automobile industry,we witnessed a variety of state-owned and private brands have been emerging in an endless stream.However,as Chinese-made auto brands,how to make these self-developed products full of local charicteristicsis worth thoroughly pondering.So,quite a lot of brands have intended to add Chinese elements into their own designing activities viewed from Chinese traditional patterns.Thus,a wave of “Chinese Style” prevails in Chinese automobile circle.By firstly analyzing the historical development course around Chinese traditional patterns,let us have a clear picture of these elements.And then,it further explored aesthetic characteristics and cultural connotations of such traditional patterns,rendering the role of valuable treasures in Chinese traditional culture.And based on that,it further extends Chinese traditional elements have been widely applied in modern product designs.And by analyzing several actual cases,it better proved the feasibility of adding Chinesetraditional patterns to auto modeling designs,as well as the importance of giving auto local characteristics.Next,by combing the auto-modeling developing history,it better added weight to the inevitability that all auto brands should form their own local characteristics,as well as the important significance such localizations bring the development in Chinese auto industry.After that,it also introduced general processes around auto modeling design,and found several factors affecting auto modeling design,aiming to better add the pointcut-Chinese traditional elements depending on the above-mentioned information.Then it also explored the application actualities of Chinese traditional patterns and elements among auto brands at home and abroad in the current market,and deeply analyze advantages,disadvantages and unsatisfactory points behind,and finally fixed this way as main solutions in design practice.Finally,combined withauto-design-related general processes,by further analysis,it achieved to-be-solvedproblems,explored specific approaches of adding Chinese traditional patterns intoauto modeling design practice,as well as offered valuable design cases by returningpractice from theory.
