| Brain-computer interfaces(BCIs)are direct communication path between the brain and the computer or other electronic devices without the participation of muscles and peripheral nerves.The brain-computer interfaces provide a way to control external devices for paralyzed patients,such as stroke,spinal cord injury and the like.Due to the high recognition rate and no training characteristics,the P300-based BCI system has a widely prospects.This paper proposes a smart home and electric wheelchair control system based on brain-computer interface.The design of the system is as follows: We create control commands to control the home appliances(such as television,lamps,air conditioning)through the visual-evoked brain-computer interface.We realize the brain-computer interface and wheelchair coordinated control by making use of the autopilot technology.We use the Internet of Things technology to achieve the room video surveillance,home appliances and wheelchair remote control.Paralyzed patients can use the system to control the TV,lights,air conditioner and other home appliances.They also can control the wheelchair in the room by using the system.The patient’s family not only can use the system to realize the room video surveillance but also can control the wheelchair and the home appliances,so that they can take care of patients remotely.The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly,this paper introduce the research background,significance and status of the subject.The related knowledge of BCI system is described in detail.This paper describes the research of P300-based BCI system which provides the theoretical basis for the realization of this system.Secondly,the hardware and software design of the system are introduced in detail.In the hardware design,we used the STM32F407 chip and wireless chip to realize the home appliances and wheelchair control system.This part mainly includes the main controller,TV controller,lamp controller,air conditioning controller and wheelchair controller.We use the cc3200 module,camera and wireless chip to realize the Internet of things control system.The software design includes the BCI stimulation interface program,P300 EEG processing algorithms,the hardware controller program and remote control PC program.Finally,six paralyzed patients from Sichuan rehabilitation hospital were tested.We analyzed the experimental results which verify the practicality and reliability of the system,proving that the system conforms to the original intention of the design. |
