Analysis On Contemporary Chinese Buddhist Monastery Space Design Under The Influence Of "Humanitarian Buddhism"

Buddhism has congealed thousands of years of human civilization and faith.In contemporary society,the vitality of this ancient belief has been reawakened by the "Humanistic Buddhism" thought.However,the Buddhist monastery,as the direct physical carrier of Buddhist culture,has fallen into a conservative rut.Accordingly,monastery construction needs toaccommodate tosocial development in the new era.This article analyzes the trend in monastery construction and puts forward some reasonable suggestions by studying the overall planning,architectural form and internal space form of the typical new monasteries on both sides of the Strait.This article expounds the views in five chapters and follows the study logic of the theoretical model > the modern demand of monasteries > the present situation of Taiwan and mainland monasteries >the trends and suggestions.Finally,this article comes to conclusion that in the future,China’s new monasteries are supposed to highlight the traditional Chinese Buddhist art,humanistic care and shaping of space character,in the joint efforts from all walks of life.New monasteries should stick to innovation,and showareligious,educational place in the most unadorned architectural language.
