Textile reinforced concrete(TRC)is a relatively new class of cementitious material which combines textile with matrix.TRC has a number of advantages including high corrosion resistance,large ultimate strain,light weight,enhanced strength,etc.Basalt fiber is a typical silicate fiber and it has a natural compatibility with concrete,so basalt textile will have wide application prospect in TRC filed.Recently,the research on the performance of basalt TRC has just started.In addition,the bonding properties of basalt textile and concrete have also affected the application of this material.This paper tries to use basalt textile to reinforce fine-grained concrete matrix.A series of uniaxial tensile tests and four-point bending tests are carried out to study the tensile behavior amd flexural properties of basalt TRC.This study addresses the influences of basalt textile layers,prestress levels and volume fractions of short steel fibers.Meanwhile,based on the theory of composite materials and ordinary reinforced concrete,some theoretical analysis on the tensile behavior and flexural properties of basalt TRC are performed.Present study obtains the following research results:(1)The number of textile layers is a decisive factor on the tensile behavior and flexural properties of basalt TRC.With the increasing number of textile layers,TRC tensile specimen exhibits excellent tensile bearing capacity,larger tensile deformation capacity and fine cracking patterns.Meanwhile,TRC bending specimen exhibits excellent flexural bearing capacity,better ductility,higher toughness and optimized cracking patterns.There is a critical textile ratio for TRC tensile specimen.When textile ratio is larger than the critical textile ratio,the specimens exhibit apparent reinforcement efficiency and consequently,prominent enhancement of tensile behavior and optimized cracking patterns.Moreover,equilibrium equation of TRC bending specimen with multi-layer textile are deduced and flexural bearing capacity is calculated.Comparison between the calculated and the experimental results reveals a satisfactory agreement.(2)Controlling the value of prestress force in a reasonable level is an important issue for TRC to give full play of the advantage of prestress.For TRC tensile specimen and bending specimen,prestress force on textile contributes to improve the anti-cracking performance,while there is only slightly influence on ultimate bearing capacity.Meanwhile,unfavorable influces on the deformation capacity and the cracking pattern are showed.In addition,the excessive level of prestress force seriously reduces both the strain capacity of TRC tensile specimen and the deflection of TRC bending specimen,so that the tensile behavior and flexural properties of the specimen are greatly weakened.(3)The addition of short steel fibers can help to enhance the tensile behavior and flexural properties of TRC.And TRC exhibits more superior mechanical performance with increasing volume fraction of short steel fibers.(4)The tensile behavior and flexural properties of TRC correlate with prestress force level and volume fraction of short steel fibers.When the value of the prestress force and the volume fractions of short steel fibers are matched better with each other,the TRC specimen exhibits superior tensile behavior and flexural properties.
